How to use the paint polish correctly:
1. Choose polish: Choose the right product with the right level of abrasiveness depending on the severity of the paint damage. For light scratches and holograms, a fine polish is sufficient, while deeper paint defects require a stronger polish.
2. Wash the vehicle thoroughly: Before you start polishing, the vehicle should be thoroughly washed and freed of dirt, dust and deposits. This will prevent dirt particles from further damaging the paintwork during polishing.
3. Dry the surface: Make sure the car paint is completely dry before you start polishing for best results.
4. Choose a polishing pad: Choose the right polishing pad depending on the strength of the car polish and the desired result. Microfiber cloths or soft pads are suitable for fine polishing, while harder pads are used for stronger polishing.
5. Apply paint polish: Apply a small amount of paint polish to the polishing pad or sponge. Spread the product evenly over a small area of the paint (approx. 40 x 40 cm) before turning on the polisher or polishing by hand.
6. Polishing: Work the polish into the paint using light pressure. Start with slow movements and increase the speed if using a polishing machine. Polish in circular or overlapping movements until the polish is almost completely worked in.
7. Remove residue: Once the polish has been worked in, remove excess residue with a clean microfiber cloth. Wipe gently and in straight lines to avoid causing new scratches.
8. Check the result: Check the result. If scratches or dull spots are still visible, you can repeat the process on the affected areas or use a finer polish.
9. Apply paint protection: After polishing, the paint surface is perfectly prepared for a sealant or wax to provide long-lasting protection.
Paint polish – apply by hand or machine?
Whether you apply the paint polish by hand or with a machine depends on your needs and the desired result. Hand polishing is ideal if you want to work on smaller areas or only remove light scratches. It is gentler on the paint, but requires more time and effort. With hand polishing sponges and aids you can still work precisely and restore the shine.
Using a polishing machine, on the other hand, is much more efficient, especially for large areas or deeper paint damage. Machines offer even pressure distribution and make it possible to quickly remove even stubborn scratches and dull spots. They are ideal if you want to achieve professional results and polish more often. Both methods produce good results - the choice depends on how much effort you want to put into the preparation and how deep the paint damage is.
Important to know: Car polishes always contain an abrasive to remove scratches, which means that some clear coat is removed with each application. However, this removal of the clear coat is manageable if the work is carried out correctly.
